I assume you told the person what car and kit you were looking for? I'd
surmise it's an operator option whether they ask for a VIN or not. I'd
guess either they ask for a VIN just to make sure the person asking for the
kit knows what kind of car they have or could be the operator doesn't really
know a 70 Malibu from a 70 Chevelle and just uses the VIN to look up the
proper kit. They probably have 'kits' for literally hundreds of different
Chevrolet models.

I have a quick question. I called the number also and it smoothly. I was not
asked for my vin# though. Does that make any difference in the information
that I will recieve for my 70 Chevelle?

I just called the 800 number also and after answering some recorded messages
was forwarded to a lady who checked availability and is sending me a free
restoration kit for my 1970 Chevelle Malibu. She said I would be receiving
it in about 2-4 weeks. I did however have to give her the VIN number of the
car before she would send it. I wasn't sure from the different answers to
this if I would need it or not so I had it on hand just in case. It all
went very smooth and only took about 5 minutes.
Thanks for making this know to everyone so they could take advantage of it.

I just called the 800 number listed on my site (800 222-1020) and got a
restoration kit for a 69. No charge, no being referred to another source,
no problem.

I'll try the 800 number on Monday and see if I get the same referral. If so
I'll have to update the information on my site.
Please if you will post on the list too, i would like to try this out too.
Thanks
