[Chevelle-list] Electric fans

I have electric fans on my El Camino and Chevelle (they're both big block
cars).  The Elky has a rad/fan setup from Ron Davis Racing.  The fans are
12" Spals and I have them wired up with MAD Electric relays.  The temp
sensor that turns the fans on/off is mounted in the intake next to the water
neck and I also have a manual override switch under the dash.  The Chevelle
is the same setup as the Elky except the rad is from Northern and the fans
are 10" Spals but that's ok because the Chevelle doesn't have A/C like the
Elky.  To date, neither car has ever overheated in traffic, on the highway
or anyplace in between.

 I appreciate your response. What I am looking for what other people are
doing that do have electric fans. Sensor probe in Radiator VS Temp. Sensor
in Manifold VS Temp Sensor in Heads (working around headers) also if anyone
uses the Variable Speed Controllers offered by SPAL and other companies that
would control the seperately Dual Fan setups based on Temp. What I would
really like to know if anyone has the Temp gauge in the manifold if they
experience the 15 degree variance that Ron Francis Wiring states on their
webpage. I know if you wrap the sending unit in teflon tape you will get a
soft reading. Just wanted to know of everyone's setup.
