Other than wanting to change....why go electric? You dont have any fittiment issues. You dont overheat at all. The clutch/fan setup really works the best. Switching to electric fans only gives you about 5HP at 10,000RPM from what I remember reading.

However, if I were to talk to anybody about electric fans, call Alumitech Reproductions. They are a sponser on the Team Chevelle website, and the owner is the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He can set you up with an electric fan setup that will work. On a side note....my intake manifold (Edlebrock) has a spot for a sensor....as do the heads. On the Nova I built, I used the push in style, and it works perfect.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Electric fans

I ?need some advice on choosing an electric fan. I am still running the old style Clutch set up.
?

I have 1968 Chevelle with 454\425 GM Crate 4 speed. No accessories to drain my?Powermaster Alternator #8002 Idle 75 amps, output Hwy speed 102 amps. I am updating the Forward lamp harness and engine harness?so I can switch from the 1 wire setup to a 12CSI hook up that the new harness incorporates. I have also ?ordered a bunch of stuff from MadElectrical to assist in getting things hooked up with new headlights and other parts.(relays, headlight relays etc)

?

My questions is this. I want to install a Dual 13-inch fan setup. What I have been reading is that these fans draw about 40 amps idling. Does anyone on the list use any of the Variable speed Controllers that are offered. If you use a temp sensor, is it plugged into your cylinder head, or the intake manifold. I was reading? on Ron Francis's webpage that if you use the Intake Manifold fitting, you have to allow for a 15 degree difference. I really don't want to change the upper radiator hose outlet from the Intake, and the only other option is to use the probes that slide between the fins. I will be running 235\60r15 tires, with 3:55 gears., I usually drive my car to Chevellabration from Louisville Ky with no problems of overheating? while driving or sitting still.(not even during the country cruises)...I just feel like making a change.

?

If any of? you guys use the various setups, I would appreciate your input.

?

Thanks in advance

Terry S Hodges
