Matt,
You are correct, these are not being repopped. The good part is they are
rarely removed from salvage cars. They're not a high demand part so if you
could find a 69 Chevelle it would probably have them. Since they are
stainless they can be straightened and repolished. I did my own. They
weren't that hard but you need small body hammers and dollies, sandpaper
from 100 to 2000 grit and a 10 inch buffing wheel and different polishing
compounds.
If this sounds like too much work there is a guy that advertises in
Chevelle World that does this kind of work. His name is Frank Joslin, Phone
(715) 325-6015.

Got my copy at Wal-Mart. I'll scan the cover and email it to you off-list.
Publisher is Source Interlink Media but you have to look on the inside to
find that data and wouldn't help much trying to find it on the shelf. Cover
shot has a charcoal over green 67 and a yellow 71 convertible.

Like most magazines, the staff writers aren't too bright sometimes and
proofreaders must be nonexistent. When discussing the yellow 71 SS454
convertible they state, "Chevrolet built just 5,089 LS5 SS454 Chevelle
two-door convertibles in 1971." Uh, no - there were 5,089 Malibu
convertibles built and there are no real numbers on how many, of any model,
were LS5 optioned. There were only 9,502 LS5 options sold in 71 and I'd
make it safe bet that over half didn't go into convertibles.

Same car; "The RPO Z15 Super sport package cost $357 and was offered on
Chevelle and Malibu models." Uh, no - the Chevelle model didn't come in a
convertible configuration and RPO Z15 was limited to Malibu sport coupes,
convertibles, and sedan pickups.

FWIW, Keith Anderson's 70 SS Elky is in the same issue, facing page to
Herb's.

fuel gauge reads full all the time.....
i took off the ground cleaned and reattached, still had problem, grouned it
to a diffrent location with a jumper wire and still had problem,,, grounded the
sender wire then it went to empty--- so i figured the problem was with the
float/sender, so i took down my tank and rechecked it and now it is working---
wondering what "the list" suggests? should i get a new float/sender package and
install it? is my problem likely to reoccur? or ??? (are the aftermarket
parts any good?)

thanks for the help!
Harlan

I think I read in an earlier response that the locking ring plays a part in
grounding. Maybe removing and reinstalling cleaned that connection.Godspeed, Dan

I picked up mine at Wal-Mart as well. I already passed my copy on to a buddy so
I cant offer any help on the publisher.
I also noticed an error. In one of the feature articles the photo in the lower
right corner of the page was from a different car. Not even the same model. If I
remember correctly it was an article on a 70 with a picture from a 68-69.
Still a really nice magazine. They should publish it more often.Godspeed, Dan
