[Chevelle-list] hood springs

I attached one end and put a fan belt around the other. Placed the hinge on the floor and held it with my foot as I pulled the spring over the other tab.

The is a tool for that but I would take the old hinge to a body shop and
have them install the springs.

 

Has anyone had experience with the installation of new hood springs? How do
you stretch them out safely. 

 

Or does anyone know if you can straighten out an original hood support?
