This may be a case of mixing GM DEX-COOL antifreeze (Red) and the regular (Green) stuff.
Flush it out really well and go with one or the other. The two are not compatable...ds

This is off topic but hoping someone out there can help. We have a 95 GMC Suburban with a 454. It hasn't been heating up in the mornings so I decided to replace the thermostat today. The coolant I drained out was a dark grey color and there was some sludge in the radiator cap. I also found about an inch or two of dark grey sludge in the bottom of the overflow tank. Scraped the majority of it out and found it to be almost like a dense clay. Filled a Ziploc bag with the stuff. It is water soluble because I was able to wash out the remainder with hot water. Any ideas? I have never used any stop leak.Godspeed, Dan Solomon"It is a mistake to allow any mechanical object to realize you are in a hurry."http://www.freewebs.com/chevelles1970/
