[Chevelle-list] Wiper assembly

Does anyone know what the windshield wiper assembly where the splined stub shafts are mounted in in some type of "pot metal" are called ? On my ' 71, the little pin that allows part of the linkage to pivot is broke. I don't have a parts book, and have not been able to find one in aftermarket books. Kinda hard to call around to salvage yards if you don't know what the thing is called. Thanks.

Although I think your cam choice would work, I believe it's at the far end of what I would put in a daily driver street car.
It really depends on what you want. Do you want a car to show off? Is a lumpy idle is more important than practicality? If that's what you want, then I think it's a good choice.
Do you want more practicality and drivability? I can only imagine what you pay for gas where you are. Let's face it, a big block isn't going to get very good gas mileage by today's standards anyway, but is economy important to you? If it is, go a little smaller.
If you are building a daily driver then my philosophy is this; less is more when it comes to cams. A lumpy idle is cool but a smaller cam will give you more power where you can use it...in the lower to mid-range.
Even in drag racing less can be more. I have a 3600 pound 71 that runs 11.50s with a Crane 224/236 @ .050 hydraulic roller in a 461 (.030 over 454). Most people don't believe that's all the cam I have in it. I think it works as good as it does because it gives me the bottom end power to get a heavy car moving.
Staying within the Edelbrock line, I would recommend this cam for your application:

That is right in my backyard. I live in Waldorf.
What guy would bring his children and grandkids to a street race at 3 in the morning? Then step in the middle of the road to watch?
"There were just bodies everywhere; it was horrible," said Crystal Gaines, 27, whose father was among the dead.
Gaines said she grabbed her child but could not help her father, William Gaines Sr., 61.
"He wasn't breathing, he wasn't moving," she said. "His body was in pieces."
Prince George's County Police Cpl. Clinton Copeland said a tractor-trailer came by shortly afterward may also have struck someone on the road as it tried to avoid the crash.
[Jim Thompson] The tire smoke was like a fog across the highway. The poor bastard who came along just drove into the fog. How was he to know people were standing in the middle of the road looking the other way. There are no street lights or traffic signal there. You are more or less in the country side. The speed limit is 55 but even in rush hour you need to do 70 to stay with traffic.
I expect teenagers to do these things. I was young and dumb one time too.
Who do you blame? the drivers? No the audience?
Jim

Subject: [Chevelle-list] SBC fuel line
I have a '71 Malibu 350 with a stock fuel pump and Edelbrock carb. I
need to replace the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb. I've been
told that that line should be steel, especially the part the runs behind
the alternator/fan. I bought a stock, pre-bent, steel fuel line, but of
course it does not fit correctly to the Edelbrock carb. I'd like to
install the steel fuel line to the fuel pump, cut the nut off the end
that normally goes into the stock carb, and run rubber fuel line to the
fuel filter and then to the Edelbrock carb. My concern is that the steel
line would only be supported in one place (at the fuel pump) and might
vibrate loose.
1) Should I support the other end of the steel line somehow? If so, any
suggestions on how and where to support it.
2) When removing the old line from the fuel pump, do I have to worry
about fuel leaking from the pump?

I ran into the same problem with my smallblock "69". I also have an Edlebrock carb. and what I did was cut the one end off at the height of the intake manifold. I ran 3/8ths braided fuel line hose from there to the fuel filter which fits in a bracket that mounts on the carb. base ( homemade). From there I ran an other piece of 3/8ths braided fuel line to the banjo fitting on the side of the carb. I have had no problems with either the steel fuel line coming loose or any leakage to date. When you take the old fuel line off of the fuel pump you will have some fuel run out of the pump, but it shouldn't be any large amount. I usually use my oil change pan with good results in situations like this.

Don't worry about it. Mine has been that way for years. I did have to
buy a banjo fitting for the carb, but you don't need anything to
support the fuel line. Just make the steel part of the line taller
than the manifold so that the rubber part doesn't end up lying on the
engine (friction & heat).

I also cut the line above the intake added a sort run of rubber an inline filter and then another short run of rubber to the split for the double pumper. I blew the line off the steel after sitting over the winter. To solve this I used a flare tool to put a small swell on the end of the steel lines,

It's usually called the rear tail light panel.....I checked Ground up, year 1, and OPG....they don't seem to carry 64-65 tail panels.
