It may be a exaust valve sticking at idle. Put some top oil in the gas to re-lubricate the valve stems since vechicle was in storage. Not that uncommon. I always put some in my cars either before storing or right after. The valve stems get dry and hold open the valve/s alittle. gm66

I started my Chevelle for the first time this weekend since 5 months winter storage. I noticed a strange exhaust sound at idle coming out the left side pipe that was not noticed last fall. It is random sometimes 3 in a row followed by a couple several seconds apart The sound sounds like tuft, tuft tuft.tufttuft..tuft, tuft. It doesnt stumble and if I increase RPM it runs without any missing. It has clean plugs all gapped to 038, new Delco cap, new Delco rotor. Just switched to Pertonix Ignitor ll with Flame thrower coil. But ran the car just before installing Pertronix and it did the same noise I described above with points/condenser installed. Any thoughts what could be causing this sound?
Thank you for the help,
Krister Meister
