I guess I missed the first par of the thread but are you saying the centers
(caps) were $100 each? I don't think I paid that much for the current ARE
Outlaw I wheels I have but I did buy them about 15 years ago. Before that I
had a set of Torq Thrust D's. The Outlaw I's are just a shade over $100 now
for 15x8. I like the clear coat finish on the ones I have as they require
very little maintenance and no polishing. I have a set I put on my 67
Chevelle and ran them about 10 years before I put them on my El Camino about
5 years ago. I admit though I'm not impressed with their plastic center caps
but I'd buy another set of ARE wheels in heartbeat.

American Racing wheels are cheap in price compared to other brands, so
maybe that's just how they are made. Cheap price and high quality
don't go together very often. Let us know if the new ones are any
better or if that's just how they are made.
With all due respect, where would you consider the cut off in price?? These
centers were close to 100.00 each (with a made in Africa sticker on the
back-don't get me going on this), so just because they don't cost say 500.00
each I am supposed to accept shoddy workmanship?? I think i disagree, these
are custom chrome wheels which are to dress up an auto- supposed to make it
look good- i think without going into politics this is what's wrong with
everyone these days- everyone just lies down and takes what ever is done to
us and says- "that's the way it is" its all greed as far as i go- higher
taxes, higher gas prices- etc.---if i say bought a cheaper radiator, i
brought it home and it leaked- i should say oh well- i better go spend more
for one that won't?
sorry had to vent- no offense to you--
