I sure opened a can of worms with the whole 12 bolt yoke thing didnt I? Well, I have already learned a few things about 12 bolt yokes. The reason I asked what people where running was that I really was under the impression that you could use either kind. I talked to a guy at Jegs (I had to of missunderstood him) and I thought he said that the 1350 yokes where the u-bolt style and were used only in really high performance cars. Mine is just going to be a cruizer so I asked about the 1310 yoke. He said that most cars ran the 1310 and that it was a bolt and strap style. So.....I looked on Jegs website and Summits and from what I gathered (obviously not true) that all 12 bolts ran the same style pinion yokes. The reason I was thinking this is that niether site asks what year of car it is for. I looked under 12 bolt chevy passenger on both sites and only the 1310 and the 1350 where offered which led me to believe you had the choice based on what your car was meant for.

Now...long story short I am afraid that I may have made things worse for myself. I ordered 1310 Moser yoke from summit thinking that I really didnt need the really high performance part (1350). I guess I wil find out when it gets here.

My car is a 1968 Chevelle two door. It originally came with 307 but I am replacing it with 402. It kind of sounds like Jim Sullivan and I are doing the same thing. I am looking for a M20 (suggested by many members of this list) but just to allow me to get it on the road eventually I have a rebuilt 4 speed saginaw sitting in it. Like I said I am building a car I can take the fam in to go get ice cream on saturday nights. I am not looking for a car to burn up the 1/4 mile. I got the saginaw on trade for some work that I did on a guys garage. So far I havent been that lucky to land a muncie in trade!! I have the original drive shaft from the 307 ci with a 10 bolt rear. If I am understanding things right I wont be able to use that drive shaft with my 12 bolt and a four speed. Correct me if I am wrong but it wouldnt surprise me.

Maybe Jim Sullivan and I can both get our projects figured out with this thread!!

With all that being said sorry to be so long winded. I just know that all the good people on this list havent steered me wrong yet!!!!

Thank you for all the help all these times

Ryan
