[Chevelle-list] 12 Bolt yoke

Mike,

Never crossed my mind there would be intent to mislead. Unfortunately Ryan
didn't mention a year, engine, or trans type he currently has or what the
year, engine, or trans type the rear end came out of so it sort of left the
question open to interpretation. It's also worded in such a way as to imply
that bolts/nuts or strap/bolts is a user's choice. Not knocking Ryan for
his question and lack of information, often times one asks questions not
thinking there might be differences and some details might not be relevant;
I've done the same thing as time or two myself. :*)

One great thing about this list is we all learn new things and there are so
many people willing to share information so collectively we're all a little
bit wiser.

Dale, I wasn't trying to mislead Ryan with a "blanket statement". In my
experience, I had never come across a 12 bolt that had straps. And I have
come across more than one or two. But I haven't worked on one with a TH400.
Learn something new everyday.

Beware of blanket statements; u-bolts were not standard across the board.
The 67 driveshaft, u-joint mounting method, and rear pinion yoke flange was
different on the TH400 than anything else in 67. The TH400 used the
strap/bolt arrangement where everything else used the u-bolt/nut
arrangement. I've seen the strap/bolt in a 69 AIM as well.

Are most of you guys running a u bolt or strap style pinion yoke? I guess I
am not sure what 12 bolt Chevelles came with? Mine didnt have one on it
when I bought the housing and I guess I dont know. I see a few on ebay that
use the straps for the u joints. Are all of them that way? Chaulk this one
up the rookie syndrome. Again.

Thank you

Ryan
