[Chevelle-list] powertrax

I had one in a (short wheel base) 4X4..... I hated it.
Chatter, drivability issues..... One time it unlocked on a long, straight, steep hill climb(!!) I thought I had broken an axle!! Parking lots were a nightmare (due to the ratcheting of the unit). Sometimes the locker would just unlock...for no real reason! Driving at 45 mph on a straight paved road, the unit "unlocks" and the rear end sway's hard to one side...NOT FUN!!!!
As a matter of fact, it was so bad that I stopped driving the truck on the road for over a year, finally I pulled it and replaced it with an air locker.

My opinion... buy a real locker.

I don't care for them. A buddy had one in his Camaro. Chewed the back tires up really bad, and didn't reliably engage, and pretty noisy.
He ended up taking it out and replacing it.

Has anyone had any experience with the Powertrax Lockright traction system that Richmond makes...I'm thinking about putting one in my 66...With the price of original posi trac's and availability it seems like a good reliable alternative....at least that is what I have read....
