[Chevelle-list] Power Steering

I put a rebuilt pump on (72 chevelle) and when we started the car, the pump
squeled and the hose vibrated and the wheels went hard to the left.  I have
slipped the belt off for now and the steering works without the assist.
 
I have one old pump but have not had time to swap it on.
 
Any other ideas???
