They don't line up from factory!
I've seen numbers of cars with the same problem!

  Hi Gang, I am trying to solve the pulley puzzle on my BB 396, I have the alternator located on the left cylinder head (if your standing in front of the car) Does anyone know of a matched pulleys set crank,alt, long water pump and PS that will allow the belts to line up properly. I just replaced the PS pump and used an OE pulleys. The previous owner used anything and everything he could find that wasn't meant for the car I think he had stock in JC Whitney. I am not opposed to going all OE if it works, thought I would consult the experts.
