[Chevelle-list] Chevelle Chassis Swap

If you have factory disk brakes they will swap over as a bolt on. The 65
rear is narrower than the 67, this maybe a problem.

Thanks to all who provided information on this swap. I have measured the
bare 65 chassis, the 67 is still being driven. The measurements are very
close to what has been mentioned in this forum. I believe I'm .25 inches off
due to working around the suspension and exhaust of the running car. My
goal is to build the chassis including new drive train to minimize the down
time. I believe I have enough information to start and save the cut and
welding while the body is off the original chassis. Thanks to everyone for
all your help. Tom

Check the measurements on a posted photo I have the frame measurements -
http://www.chevellestuff.com/tech/frame_dimensions_small.jpg

Using two common reference points measurements show 148.62-inches for the
wagon/pickup and 145.35-inches for sedan/coupe/convertible - a difference of
3.27-inches. All of it is behind the rear end. I don't what other
physical difference there is in the 64/67 frames but I'm sure someone here
does.

Hope everyone has a happy and safe New Year!!

Can anyone put me in contact with someone that has swapped a El Camino
chassis under a 2 Dr Hardtop. I have a 1965 El Camino chassis and would like
to start a ground up rebuild of my 67 Chevelle. I understand the El Camino
chassis is stronger but also a little longer and will need to be cut. I
would greatly appreciate some pointers before under taking this project.
Thanks, Tom
