[Chevelle-list] Hyd. Lifters...

That’s the only paragraph I clipped because that was the question. Crane
does state elsewhere that

Any non-roller camshaft and lifters must be pre-lubricated before
installation. Use Crane Cams Assembly Lube, part number 99002-1, and Crane
Cams Super-Lube, part number 99003-1.

And I’m sure other cam grinders will give the same information with their
product line. Aside from a cam grinders pre-lube (if it was supplied as in
a kit form) I always used GMs Engine Oil Supplement on moving parts during
assembly.

Hmm not enough info here. One could think based on the Crane paragraph
that you put them in dry? I put them in sloppy with oil but don’t hand pump
them. And the adjustment method I use is spin the pushrod until slack is
taken up then ¾ turn beyond.

Of course recent thought has some folks breaking a cam in at idle
which I
have never done. What is the saying old dog new
.

According to Crane Cams:

Do Hydraulic Lifters Need to be Primed with Oil?

Many people mistakenly believe that hydraulic lifters must be soaked in oil
overnight and be hand pumped up with a pushrod before installing into a new
engine, however this is not necessary. In fact, this could cause the lifter
to act as a "solid" and prevent obtaining proper preload. What is very
necessary is the priming of the entire engine's oil system before starting
up a new engine for the first time. This is done by turning the oil pump
with a drill motor to force oil throughout the entire engine. Crane Cams
offers oil pump primers for Chevrolet and Ford engines.

Hi Guys...Hope everyone had a good holiday!!!

I keep reading conflicting stories about soaking new lifters in oil for a
few hours before installing them...Some say do it...some say you don't have
too...i'm confused...Can anyone shed some light on this one for me????
