Hopefully it is just an exhaust leak. Something to look at definitely. I dont remember seeing any metal shavings in my oil. Its a good measure to look at it...cut open the oil filter and see what it shows. I'd still pop the valve covers off and measure the lashing. Good luck, let us know what you find out.

I know you are now looking into a wiped cam, but I hope it could be easier than that. ?I had what I thought was a knock earlier this year. ?Come to find out I just blew out part of my exhaust gasket near my #7 cylinder. ?I was surprised at how similar a knock sounds to an exhaust leak.

I am ?finally getting back to my Chevelle , rookie question but here goes. which is the best port to measure the vacuum and what should the vacuum be ? I have a knock and its not running on all cylinders . The motor is a 454ci , with a stock rebuild with a mild cam. 915 miles after rebuild..with a few hard ones squeezed in. Thanks for any help, Jimmy C.
