[Chevelle-list] reupholster?

I have done a few Different years in chevelle seats. You will need original foam to get the right look. I have added padding or thin foam to get rid of the concave mark your but leaves in the seats over the years and it makes the covers nice and tight looking. I just did buckets with new foam for a friend and they looked nice when done.

  Pelle-  Having done a few seats over the years, more than I’d like, unless you’re after a custom look, you’ll likely need to buy the appropriate foam for your Chevelle.  This has the rope- like material that you will have to attach the hog rings to in order for it to have the proper shape.  Hopefully somebody will have better input for you as well.  I’m not an upholsterer, just a guy who works on his own cars.

  A few Q:s

   

  I'm in the progress of reupholstering the back seat.

  Allt that is left of the old back seat is the bare metal base and springs, due to rats and mould!

   

  Do I proceed like this

  1. First I need a layer of fabric or jute to protect the foam against the springs I guess.

  2. Then there's a layer of foam? How thick should the foam layer be?

  Any more layers on top of the foam except the new cover?

  3. Then I attach the hog rings!
