Support the car on jack stands. Try to find two floor jacks and lift the
rear by the axel tubes. Attach the upper control arms first. Do not tighten
all the way. Next the brake line. Then the lower control arms. Slip in the
springs, raise the rear to hold the springs in, not compressed. Slip in the
sway bar and tighten. The shocks are next, tighten. Now remove the floor
jacks and place jack stands under the axel tubes. (This would be a good time
to bleed the brakes.)

Remove the jack stands from the car frame,. You want a full load on the jack
stands under the axel. Now torque the control arm bolts. 20 ft lbs, 40 ft
lbs and finally 60 ft lbs. Start at the top and work down side to side.

Take your time that is a lot of weight if you lose control.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] 12 Bolt Install

I will be installing my freshly rebuilt 12 bolt this weekend in the
chevelle! I was wondering if you guys had any tips, tricks, ideas or
suggestions for me before I dive in head first?!? I know it is fairly
straight forward but having a few tricks up my sleeve never hurts! Thank
you for your time.

Ryan
