  Looks like a stamped number from Tonawanda with date 0208 (Feb 8) but last two would be letters to identify engine hp and trans type (?) like ED, EF, EG, etc.  FWIW, all Mark IV engines have some form of HIPERF, HIPER, etc. cast in them. :*)

  I picked up the 396 today. There was numbers on front of Block hid in paint. Can anyone tell me what they mean???

  1020840 I think.

  Marked on bell housing area,   hi perf truck pass s.    3916323.  gm 1 on v2.
