Have no idea about the 1020840 number but 3916323 is an early 1968 396 block
(June 67 to June 68).  First Mark IV block to use spin-on oil filter.  See

I picked up the 396 today. There was numbers on front of Block hid in paint.
Can anyone tell me what they mean???

 

1020840 I think.

 

Marked on bell housing area,   hi perf truck pass s.    3916323.  gm 1 on
v2.
