[Chevelle-list] Off Topic - Nascar Texas Motor Speedway

I haven't been to a race at Texas Speedway but I've been to a couple of Good
Guys shows there.  Depends on where you stay I suppose. The track is only a
couple of blocks off I-35 so it's not too bad.  I've only used the south
entrance/exit and it can be a problem making a left turn (going east) from
there but I'd think they'd have some type of traffic control coming out.
There are four or five entrances/exits but I've never used the others. See

a site as big as Texas Speedway, traffic will always be an issue - the Busch
race probably won't be as bad as the cup race though.  According to their

<http://www.texasmotorspeedway.com/> , gates open at 9:00 A.M. for the 2:00
P.M. race.  Looks like the Nextel Cup happy hour is thrown in that timeframe
somewhere.

 

I've only been to one Nextel Cup race (Kansas Speedway) and arrived about an
hour and a half early.  No special activities went on except for driver
introductions and monies awarded from previous races - most laps led, best
pit stop, fastest lap, stuff like that.  If you've never been to a live race
I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

   Has anyone been to a recent race?      I bought tickets for the Busch
race & have a couple of questions.     

 

How bad is traffic going in?   I heard real horror stories when they first
opened but the last few years I can't remember hearing a thing about
traffic.    

 

Race is at 2PM - Are there pre-race activities?    Thanx for any words.
