[Chevelle-list] 12-bolt rear

Ok. Down the road I intend to rebuild the rear end in my Blazer. After
hearing about what other people have gone through getting rears built and
the cost involved, I started thinking it might be more cost effective to get
a new Strange S60 or Moser unit built to fit my truck. That way I can get a
Detroit Locker, 35 or 40 spline axles, gears of my choice, etc. On top of
that, if an aftermarket version of the car 12-bolt is stronger than the
factory truck version, even better.
Thanks.
Herb

Hi Tom,
Obviously the truck rear (in my case Blazer) uses leaf springs. Since
the case is different, car 12-bolt internal components don't interchange.
Ok. Next question, is it weaker than a car 12-bolt? Thanks.
Herb
Not that I am aware of. A 12 bolt car rear is pretty stout. The only
rears stronger are the 9" Ford and a Dana 60.
