By all means use the Rotella for break in and keep using it afterwards. As Clint said the oil companies have removed the zinc additives from their products because modern engines don't need it, but our older flat tappet engines need zinc. I use rotella in all of my engines that do not have roller valve trains.

  Hi Everyone..
I'm doing a cam change on my 327 and have been doing some reading about engine oils..I have seen numerous times in some articles that using diesel engine oil for the break in period and actually for the first 3000 miles is a better way to go...I saw one article using Shell Rottela oil....They say its because the oil companies have quit putting in some of the additives that prevernt premature wear.....
My question is....Has anybody used the diesel oil in their engine???
