Have you tried your local Chevrolet dealer? Might be surprised at what
parts are still available. If they claim they can't get it, see if you can
get the part number and plug it into http://www.partsvoice.com and see if
any dealer nationwide claims to have one. If you have the part number, you
can log into Partsvoice as a guest with just your zip code.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] 350 CID oil pan replacement

Can anyone recommend a stock replacement oil pan for my 350 out of a
1980 Silverado with driver's side dipstick? Apparently the 1980-84
pans are different from other years. Jegs shows one 5-quart pan (Mr.
Gasket for $71.99) but the picture shows the dipstick bulge on the
right. Summit shows 2 Milodon 5-quart pans for that year but they also
both say that the dipstick is on the right. NPD shows all of their
1980-85 pans as 4 quart and passenger side dipstick. Ground Up doesn't
list one at all for 1980. Some of these say that they require a thick
or thin front seal. Not sure what that is about but I need one for a
left (driver's side) dipstick.

Also, I bought a pan gasket and it is a thick blue plastic thing. I've
never seen one like this. It came complete with a set of bolts and
these things called "snap-ups" for temporarily getting the corners
aligned while catching the other bolts. Have you guys seen a gasket
like this. Is it any good? This is supposedly correct for my 1980
engine.

Thanks,
John Nasta
