[Chevelle-list] aftermarket efi

Is anybody out there in Chevelle-land running an aftermarket performance efi? If so, what are your results?

Performance? Driveability? Cold starts? Tuneability? Other comments?

I'm just in the research stage now. I've got my car to where it is getting near the magic 11.49 NHRA rollbar requirement, and as mine is a Camino, I'm not gonna put bars out the back window. The power is great, but it's best at wide open throttle, otherwise it's a bit much to drive. It'll cruise ok above 2200 or so, but it's not truly happy until about 4500. I'm looking for crisp throttle response and hopefully an increase in fuel mileage.

I love the look of the old-style Hilborn injection setups that BDS is converting to electronic, but not having known anybody who has run one, it's hard to justify the kind of money I'm sure it would take to make that happen. I've also read articles on the FAST systems, but in checking their website, they don't appear to sell packages, but components that I would have to figure out how to put together. Holley Pro-jection? I knew a guy who had one when the first came out about 20 years ago, but I'm sure they've progressed far beyond that by now. I think I'd prefer a dry manifold system anyway, ie port injection.

Thanks,

Devin
