[Chevelle-list] Small Rant: Customer Service

Been there. Had it happen. Sometimes you get a telephone order taker with not much auto knowledge and not a clue how to deal with & provide service to people. When you get a good one, even though they don't want the liability for wrong parts or advice, etc., they will talk to you or they will transfer you. The big parts places have separate lines for orders and for orders that need assistance determining the right choice. I had a guy get nasty once & when he finally got the order right, he sent me the wrong size anyway. Had to mail it all back at the company's expense & reorder. We all lose. I made sure to lodge a formal complaint. I was very diplomatic & civil about it even though I was really pissed off. I would hope the company appreciated my telling them that this guy was costing them $$. Call Summit & tell them what happened. They know that wives & girlfriends call all the time & they need to know if they have someone on the lines acting like that person did. I hope you have his name. Good Luck. BTW, I've done the same Summit to Jeg's thing B4 also.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Small Rant: Customer Service

I know there are a few people here who have their own shops, so I figured
I'd share a small rant.

As some of you know, I'm doing a (rather slow) complete frame off resto-mod.
This will likely entail the replacement or rehab of literally everything on
the car. In other words, I will be buying a LOAD of parts and supplies for
this job.

My wife just called Summit Racing to buy some X-mas presents for my car.
She had credit card in-hand and was ready to blow a load of cash. However,
she was treated rudely by the person on the phone. They treated her like she
was some kind of dummy, so she hung up and told me.

I've been a Summit customer since I bought my first car, 15 years ago. I've
been an extremely loyal customer all this time, buying tens of thousands of
dollars worth of parts for 5 different cars.

I just gave my wife the # for Jeg's.
