[Chevelle-list] 69 SS

If you guessed there is no way, sadly you would have guessed correctly. VIN
and Fisher Body plate only verify it's a V8 Malibu (or 300 Deluxe if you're
lucky) but nothing about being a SS car. Some people claim they can
identify a real SS buy looking at specific things but don't wish to share
that information.

Not proof positive but research indications show that almost all known SS
Chevelles from KC and Baltimore had the letter "L" on the Fisher Body plate
under the lower body paint code. Again, nothing proved or disproved, but
stats show this to be the case so far.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] 69 SS

Guys, I think I already know the answer but I'm asking for a friend. A buddy
has a 69 SS, 396 four speed car. He wants to sell it but doesn't know how to
verify that's it is a true SS.

No build sheet, window sticker, original BOS etc. Is there anyway from the
VIN or Data plate to verify it is an SS? Also the engine was changed at some
point so numbers don't match. Anyway, I said I'd ask.
