[Chevelle-list] BB Water Pump

The water pump on my '70 LS5 is leaking fluid and it appears to be coming  
out the bottom part of the pump.  Not around the bolts or the block to pump  
gasket.  Looks like it is coming from a cast hole on the bottom end  of  the 
pump.  Not sure what the purpose of this hole is and there is  the same cast hole 
on the top side of the pump.
 
Hoses and clamps and radiator cap are new.
 
Anyone with some experience on this issue?  Is this the start of  pump 
failure?
