[Chevelle-list] Breather????

Hi Guys...
I'm doing a intake manifold change on my 327 and I was wondering if anyone knows if I can remove that breather canister under the manifold(bolted to the top of the block...Its about the size of a pop can..maybe a bit smaller) if I am using valve covers with breathers in them..??I left it in before and ran the hose down the back of the block and let it vent there.I just don't see the reason to have it there if there are vents(breathers) in the valve covers...
