I know that I am a little late in responding to this but the engine that
is in my Chevelle is from a truck, I don't know if it has two or four
bolt mains. The previous owner had the block decked and it had 049 heads
with the stock size valves in it when I got it. Since then I have
changed the cam to a Crane 272 adv with .515 lift single pattern
hydraulic lifter. I also had a set of 781 heads worked and put the 2.19
intake and 1.88 exhaust valves with Comp Magnum roller tipped rockers.
Just those changes seemed to do a lot for the way the engine behaves.
Just my .02.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Question about 454
I am looking for help building a 70 chevelle, have a chance to get a 454
that most likely according to the numbers came out of a truck from
75-87.
My question is are these good blocks to build? How much should I pay
for
something like this?
Thanks guys,
Dale
