As long as you don't flog the car,a Saginaw 4spd would work well with a 3.31 rear gear. 1st & 2nd gear on a Saginaw is considerably lower than those on a Muncie so it will seem like the car has 4.10's in those gears. Saginaws just aren't very strong, though.

The tires I am using are on 15" rims and are 25 3/4" diameter. Unfortunately, to get me back on the road for now I am just going to plug the Saginaw 4 speed back into it then maybe later (hopefully) stick a muncie in it. That is if I can get my hands on one somewhere. I thought I read somewhere that the Muncie and Saginaw are both a 1:1 final drive so hopefully what works good with the Saginaw for a while will work just as good with the Muncie. I would like to be able to run it down the interstate to work everyonce in a while but I also dont want a pooch either. If I get the urge to smoke a tire or two I want to be able to. Not that anybody here on the list knows what that is like!! I was considering the ring and pinion install kit from Jegs with 3:31's. I think that might get me about where I would like to be. Thanks EVERYBODY for all the replies and opinions. This list has been a life saver.
Thanks again
Ryan
