That's what happens when you install a BB in a car with used SB springs,,instant sag. Been there, done that and ruined a new set of Hooker Comps on my 68 Elky. I would recommend getting in touch with Coil Spring Specialties and have them build you a pair of drop springs. The owner has a 70 SS-454 Chevelle and a 68 SS El Camino so he knows what he's talking about. http//:www.coilsprings.com/

I have a 66 SS(cloned) with 454. The car has had a total restore. My problem is with the springs. When I first got the car the front end was almost sitting on the ground. The headers would hit the smallest rock and you could not drive over curbs or speed bumps. The front end would also bottom out anytime you hit a small bump or dip in the road. We had the front springs replaced and now the front end sits way to high. The rear end also sits to low and bottoms out when you have someone in the back. I have an assembly manual that shows the correct ride height but that is with 7.75 x14 tires and I am running 16's. I want to have a set of hotchiss 1" drop springs installed but I have no idea where that would put the ride height. Does anyone have a 66 BB that has the 1" drop springs with 16's and if you do could you send me the measurement from the ground to the edge of the fenderwell for the front and rear or the same measurements for a stock SS BB?

  Thanks
  David
