[Chevelle-list] Rear Parking Brake Cables

I have done brakes for years, you have to install the brake cable first. It is almost impossible to install the cable and hook it to the e-brake lever. But I have installed brakes and then had to install the cable. You can then just remove the one shoe that the cable hooks to.

I am getting ready to reassemble my rear drum brakes. What I was wondering is can you put all the brakes together and mount them on the backing plates and then add the rear parking cable later or does it have to be put put in before all the rest of the brakes because they mount behind everything? Anythoughts?

  Thanks for the help.

  Ryan

PS. I finally got my big block coil springs in the other night. Needless to say I would NOT recommend doing that with a coil spring compressor and a bare frame with no motor, laying on your back. NOT FUN.
