[Chevelle-list] front springs

I am in the process of changing the front coil springs in my 72. when I read the side of the box they came in it says not to worry if the new MOOG springs do not appear the same and might be shorter, but 3 inches seems to be extreme ? anybody have any experiance or knowledge in this area, I'd love to hear it.
