I agree with the solenoid idea. Also keep in mind just because a cable looks good doesn't mean it is. You can never get enough ground in my opinion so I have a new ground cable from the battery to the head on the engine (not the alternator bracket)as well as the heavier wire also from the negative battery cable to the fender using a star washer.
